Hello from 2012!!!

Greetings to you all from this a New Year!!

I hope you had a really wonderful Christmas and New Years. Ours was lovely and understated but we had a really nice time.

WOW I have been busy this past week! Apologies for the few days where my blog looked like a construction site--it's better now. (I hope you like it!)

Well a LOT has been happening!!

There is a competition open over at the Lawn Fawn Blog, where you can enter cards in to be chosen for display at the upcoming CHA booth this year in Anaheim! HOW EXCITING!!

I've made a few cards for the occasion, which I'll share wtih you over the next few days :) Today's card is this one:

Graduate Whale

I've struggled wtih this Critters in the Sea stamp set for such a long time. I LOVE it...but can just never complete a card when I try to use it. I seem to have a mental block with it!! So I challenged myself this time to do it!!

So you can see the waves better:

Most of the card is fairly self explanatory, but for the waves.  I simply punched a piece of scrap paper with the scalloped border punch and then used distress ink (in varying pressure) to make the waves and the colour gradient. Slowly I worked my way (with the border diecut) up the page, to create waves with the ink.  I then added some Picket Fence Distress Inks to the waves to give the impression of foam.

Here is the inside (and you can see the dimension too):

Here are the products I used to create this card:

I have to say you made a stunning card for having a stampers block with this critters set.
I absolutely love the waves the stickles picket fence just sends it over the top.
Great card, I think it should be selected to be at the LF booth at CHA.
